Two of our favourite Marvel characters are back! Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) return to our screens via the new series WandaVision on Disney+. We’re wondering how exactly this has come to be considering how Endgame ended. I know it’s said that this is all from Wanda’s powers, but my theory is that Vision is within J.A.R.V.I.S. or F.R.I.D.A.Y. and has perhaps fabricated this world. Perhaps Wanda has somehow managed to break that barrier and therefore created their dream world. The introduction of Kathryn Hahn (people are saying she may be portraying Agatha Harkness) also makes us question what exactly is happening. Her reaction to ‘awakening’ in the world also supports my thought that this could be Vision’s doing, why would she say to him, ‘am I dead?’ … ‘because you are.’ It just seems like we’re being made to think one thing, but there’s an underlying secret to her manner, that’s not just the evil essence of Harkness.
Why is it set in this time period, where all of a sudden it snaps to a new time period? WandaVision also implies it could be the view, or rather, the way you see a certain vision. Vision’s dream vision, that being a normal life with Wanda. There’s also a suggestion that they’re moving through different time periods, doing so as different TV shows (at a certain point I was seeing elements of Bewitched, I Love Lucy and Full House). There’s also been suggestion of some DC influences, such as Doom Patrol (one of our favourite TV shows), Superman and Wonder Woman. We’re also getting hints of the Marvel series Legion, more-so the manic nature of how things aren’t what they seem. We loved the original Wanda and Vision uniforms, as seen in the comics. It will be interesting to see how the series progresses and how it interplays with the movies. We’re also hoping, much like other Marvel TV series, we see some cameos from other characters (we see a couple in the trailer such as Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau from Captain Marvel) and perhaps expansion of the Marvel Universe, that being a group we’ve been hearing a lot about, the Young Avengers.
